Bet one hundred dollars on the Chicago White Sox to win the World Series and win $1,200, according to OddsShark.com

Fivethirtyeight.com used their complex algorithms to give the Sox a two per cent chance to win the Series. They are tied for 12th with the Cardinals and Brewers.

Placing money on the Sox to win it all is more like a bad investment than putting money in the bank given how they played over the last two weeks. The Sox had a chance to finish among the highest seeded clubs in the American League playoffs until they went 3 and 11 to finish the abbreviated season.

They plummeted to the seventh seed and now face the A’s at the Oakland Coliseum, where the A’s have played their best baseball with a 22-10 record.

For a detailed look at both the Sox and A’s team go to the MLB.com site.

Long time sports writer Paul Sullivan has listed four things to look for in today’s game one, including the return of slugger Eloy Jimenez to the lineup. Find Sullivan’s Chicago Tribune story here.

And, the Sun-Times’ Rick Morrissey is anxious to see if the “young, explosive White Sox team” will show up in Oakland, “Or a team that has smacked into a wall at the very worst time and can’t peel itself off?” Find Morrissey’s column here.
