Ugh! I was hoping that White Sox pitcher Dane Dunning would alleviate concerns about the team’s pitching rotation for the upcoming playoffs. With Dylan Cease experiencing a pandemic of walks, Dunning, who had won his last two starts and allowed only one earned run in those starts, suffered the shortest outing of his career on Monday against the Cleveland Indians.
Dunning allowed four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and one walk in four innings and the White Sox lost for the third time in four games.
Jace Fry enters to start the fifth.

The Sox magic number to clinch the American League Central remains four.
The silver lining in Monday night’s 7-4 loss for the Sox was their four-run fifth inning that tied the game. Eloy Jimenez, who had three hits, smacked a game-tying two-run homer in the inning.

Unfortunately, pitcher Jace Fry allowed two earned runs int bottom half of the inning, earning his first loss of the season.
As for Dunning, he’ll try and get back on track of Saturday when he’s scheduled for his next start. He’ll face the Cubs.
Keep an eye on the status of catcher Yasmani Grandal who left following the game after taking a foul tip off his right hand. X-rays were negative, but he’s expected to miss some time.
Reynaldo Lopez will start Tuesday night’s game for the Sox. His last three starts have been solid. He’ll face right-hander Carl Quantril who has had only one start this season, but has a 2-0 record and a 2.52 ERA.
