There was a sinking feeling in Chicago, almost 300 miles away from where the Bears were trailing the Detroit Lions 23 to 6 when the 4th quarter began at Ford Field.

But, then the Bears rose to the challenge and 21 points in the 4th quarter to come away fwith a 27 to 23 win.

The Lions are not unaccustomed to blowing 4th quarter leads. Last year, Kyler Murray led the Arizona Cardinals to18 straight fourth-quarter points leading to a tie game. It’s also the eighth time the Lions have blown a fourth-quarter lead since the start of the 2019 campaign.

This time Lions rookie D’Andre Swift dropped a pass in the end zone with 11 seconds left that would have wrecked the Bears comeback.

For Mitch Trubisky, he almost dropped in the depth chart after an uneven start. In fact, the first three quarters were not what one wants from the high investment QB. But, Trubisky got hot in the 4th quarter and completed eight of 10 pass attempts for three touchdowns and just under 100 yards.

Trubisky benefitted from better tight end play than he saw all of last year and an offensive line that allowed only one sack and that could be blamed on the QB.
