It’s a good thing fans weren’t allowed at Wrigley Field Saturday night. They were spared the sight of a sickening seventh inning that led to the Cubs 8-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins..

Before things went haywire Alec Mills, making his first start since his no-hitter, made this hellacious defensive play.

Mills pitched well into the 7th allowing and then the wheels fell off. He gave up a leadoff mammoth homer to Miguel Sano, a ground-rule double, an infield single, hit a batter, and then Javy Baez had a throwing error that allowed a run to score. Mills was gone and by the time the inning was over the Twins had a 7-1 lead.

The Twins added another homer (Josh Donaldson) in the ninth.

Before the game, the Cubs received bad news about Rowan Wick’s left oblique strain. It’s serious enough to place him on the 10-day injured list.

David Ross just said Rowan Wick's injury is "pretty bad" and it sounds like it's likely he's out for the rest of the season and whatever playoff run the Cubs make. Ross calls it a "huge loss."

Lefty Andre Chafin, acquired at the trade deadline, was activated.

The Cubs play ESPN’s national game on Sunday night and baseball fans will get to see Yu Darvish who, despite being unhappy with his last outing, pitched seven innings and struck out seven, walked one and allowed just two earned runs.

The Cubs will face Jose Berrios who has been effective of late. In his last start he limited the White Sox to just one run in five innings. He has a 2.60 ERA with 33 strikeouts in his past five starts.
