Shayne Marsaw’s Bears Re-Draft

Shayne Marsaw’s Bears Re-Draft

We’re going through the exercise of doing a re-draft so we can come back five years later and say, “I told you so!” Here’s mine:

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 1, No. 3: Malik Hooker

True center fielder that’s just scratching the surface. Takes the the ball away. Thank You.

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 2, No. 36: DeShone Kizer

Size, arm, experience. Needs some work but when a quarterback with the tools this kid possesses falls to round two.2 you take him and don’t look back. Fact is, Kizer was my No. 1 quarterback in this draft. Sorry, Mitch.

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 3, No. 67: Tarell Basham

Floyd gets a running mate. Basham is relentless and has that dawg mentality to not stop fighting until you have a QB in your mouth. Bears need more guys like him on the field.

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 4, No. 112: Samaje Perine

Thunder and Thunder. Howard and Perine. What a great combo to have at your disposal to wear down opposing defenses. If needed, a three-down back. Very underrated. Keep an eye on him!

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 4, No. 117: Howard Wilson

Bears invested in cornerback during free agency, but none are signed long term. Wilson has the athleticism you want and isn’t afraid to tackle. Secondary gets deeper with Hooker & Wilson.

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 5 No. 147 – Blair Brown

This team has inside linebacker talent, but it also has a lot of question marks ahead of Nick Kwiatkoski. Jerrell Freeman is 31 years old and Danny Trevathan has a well documented knee injury history. Brown gives you more depth there in case the PED police come back around or if Trevathan is on the PUP to start the season.

Bears Re-Draft Mock – Round 7 No. 221 – Chad Kelly

Not much needs to be said. Kid has all the tools you want. Needs to work on his attitude and get healthy. In 2017, this kid goes on Injured Reserve for me and starts fresh with a healthy body and a new attitude moving forward. Possible flip candidate if he shows what he’s capable of. Can never have enough young talented QB’s.
