Welcome to the NFC North Barroom.

This website is dedicated to fans of the Bears, Lions, Packers Vikings and beer. The Barroom began as a simple little Facebook page for a few friends and over the years, as more and more football fans asked to enter, the idea developed to build this website. Our goal is to provide stories about the team you most like and the ones you despise. It’s all NFC North!

You

Any fan of an NFC North team has a great passion for their team and an equal, sometimes more passionate, dislike for one or all of the other division teams. And, we thrive on learning and exchanging information (and taunts) about those teams.

As for the other NFL teams? Well… What’s happening in New England? Screw them! The Cowboys? Blow me. Johnny Touchdown? “F” you, dude!

Those other teams only come into play when our NFC North teams are not playing or are playing so poorly we just need a fix of some kind of football.

Since, we’re trying to create a neighborhood barroom feel we’ll talk about beer and booze, too. We’ll also make various jokes about drinking and that’s what they are – or are intended to be – jokes. We in no way encourage or condone the irresponsible use of alcohol.

Over time, we’ll post stories about movies, TV shows, and who knows what else. It’s your barroom, too, so let us know what you’d like us to cover.

Currently we have a small group of writers. Some have written professionally and others simply have a passion to brag about their team or blast yours.

Writers who have already posted stories are:

  • Tory Strother – a die hard Lions fan who lives in Wisconsin
  • Brent Baackes – a Packer Backer who sometimes listens to Chicago sports radio for comic relief

And, we have writers, Cherie “Sista” Goetz and Mick Stephenson committed to writing future stories.

We’re always looking for writers with an interesting take on NFC North Football or beer. Contact me at aldo@nfcnorthbarroom.com, if you have any interest.

There are a few people to thank for this website and the first one is my wife, Donna. She’s supported this endeavor every way imaginable. And for that, and her unconditional love, I am beyond grateful.

The interest my daughter, Kayla, and step-daughter Katelyn, have taken has humbled me. I love them and hope they will be proud of the work here.

Mark Czerniec, a web-developer in Racine, Wisconsin has worked tirelessly to help build the site and put up with my stupid questions. Thank you, Mark.

Justin Zion developed our logo and he’s graciously offered to do more work. I look forward to taking him to a real barroom soon.

Justin's logo is art. I love it! (Notice how Bears fan Justin has placed the Packers shot glass furthest from the camera. LOL!) Thank you, Justin!

The folks who have supported our Facebook site over the years deserve a free drink, but none more than Don Kallas, who has brought dozens of football fans to the site. Don is one of a kind – he has a unique take on NFC North Football and his favorite team, the Packers. I hope he’ll share his opinions here on the website; he is sure to entertain you or just piss you off.

Finally, here’s what I promise you as we move forward:

  • The site will continue to grow. I am fully committed to making it a destination point for NFC North fans. This is my new 40+hour a week job.
  • I’m listening to you. Help me develop the site, by expressing what you like, don’t like and what you’d like to see more of
  • We’ll use the same rules of behavior as most other real barrooms. We’ll tolerate some mature language and we’ll try to settle down those who get hot under the collar. But, racial, ethic slurs, threats and pornographic images (or talk) are not tolerated. The good news is that if you have no shirt, no shoes, or even no clothing you will still get served.

There’s still some work being done on the infrastructure, so pardon the dust, as we tinker with things, but most of all, I hope you grab a beer, sit down, read, and join in on the debates and have fun!

Thanks for stopping by.
